About Erica

Erica Poseley has spent the last 20 years developing an expertise in the dressage seat and position.

She has studied in Germany at Reitinstitut Egon von Neindorff. Von Neindorff was one of the most renowned masters of developing the seat. She also studied with many top judges, instructors and clinicians throughout the United States. One of her long term mentors has been FEI trainer and judge Sandy Howard, who originally introduced her to Mary Wanless, and she has had advanced training in teaching and communication with Mary. She spent three weeks of intensive training with Mary, including one on one training sessions and completing several Teacher Training Courses. She received her coaching accreditation and is now a certified Mary Wanless Ride With Your Mind Coach.

She offers clinics and gives consultations focused on upgrading a rider's seat and dressage riding position. During lunging and riding lessons, she breaks down each element that creates the correct seat and focus on what your specific needs are at any given time. Students are consistently amazed at how much can change in a short time through increasing their awareness of their body!

She takes your learning seriously and will do everything she can to help you achieve your goal. Some riders are apprehensive about lunging or have a horse who isn't reliable on the lunge - her techniques work well on and off the lunge. Her goal is to improve your seat and position to enable you to achieve your riding goals whatever they may be.

Why Lunge?

With lunging you can focus only on yourself, and train to use your body correctly so that it becomes automatic. Training your body to follow your horse's movement takes thousands of correct repetitions. It is very difficult to focus on your body while at the same time focusing on working and training your horse.

Lunging allows you to discover how to influence your horse without your reins. Once you see the effect you can have on your horse's way of going just from a change in how you use your body, you will realize the power of your seat.

Your seat may be limiting both your progess with your horse and your ability to move up the levels. Many people gravely under estimate the effect that a poor seat can have on the horse's ability to do the job that we ask of him. Erica Poseley can pinpoint the source of a problem and help you find a solution through her expertise in the biomechanics of the rider.

Not all lunging is the same. There is a difference between just bouncing around at the trot putting in hours on the lunge line, and focused instruction on exactly what to do with your body to improve your sitting. Erica's trained eye will help you correct your position so your practice will be meaningful and you can accomplish more in less time.
